ICOM CECA UPDATE

ICOM’s International Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA) had a fruitful 2020 and launched a new website for its members.

Highlights for 2021 include the following updates:

Colette Dufresne Tassé Award

ICOM CECA is delighted to announce the Colette Dufresne-Tassé Award Research in Education and Cultural Action. ICOM Ireland members are encouraged to apply for this award, as awardees receive a contribution to their travel and accommodation to attend the annual ICOM CECA General Conference to present their research as well as have their paper published. The deadline for this award is 1 April 2021 and details can be found here.

Special interest groups 

ICOM CECA has developed a number of special interest groups for members to join. The purpose of these groups is to network, share common practice in museum education, explore specific themes including 

  • Cultural Heritage and Tourism

  • Professional development of museum educators

  • Surveying audience reception of educational and cultural programme

  • Learning and engaging digitally

  • Inclusive museum, global accessibility

  • Discussing difficult issues, serving complex communities 

  • Museum Education and Decolonisation

Recent Publication

Volume 29 of CECA’s Journal - Museum Education published at the end of 2020 focuses on the definition and evolution of the term ‘Museum Education’. It is available to download here and includes a paper by Jennifer Siung, Head of Education at the Chester Beatty, Dublin.
