ICOM General Assembly 2020

For the first time, attend the ICOM General Assembly from your home !

2020 represents a profound upheaval, change and challenge for ICOM and the global museum community. In view of the pandemic, travel restrictions and our concern for the safety and health of all ICOM Members and staff, the Annual Meetings will be held online for the first time ever in the history of our Association.

Organising the General Assembly online is a great technical challenge to enhance accessibility and transparency for ICOM members.

All ICOM members in good standing are invited to attend ICOM’s 35th Ordinary General Assembly taking place online on 24 July 2020 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm (Paris, GMT+2).

All members will be able to watch the meeting live via webcast. For security reasons, the link will be sent to each member by email and posted in the membership space. The meeting will be recorded and members will be able to watch it for a limited time after the meeting in the membership space.

Due to technical constraints, English will be the main language to be used during the meeting and simultaneous interpretation into French and Spanish will be provided throughout the meeting.

To provide the best possible experience for ICOM Members, we have prepared guidelines which will be available in the member’s area, as well as working documents.

To ensure democratic debate, we invite all members to send all questions in advance directly to their Committees, Regional Alliances and Affiliated Organisations which will be responsible for forwarding them to the Secretariat before 13 July 2020.

For, as the organisation of this meeting poses a real challenge from a technical point of view and taking into account the very large number of ICOM Members (over 48,000 Members worldwide), only one representative per Committee/Regional Alliance/Affiliated Organisation (appointed by the Chairs) will be able to speak on behalf of their Committee/Regional Alliance/Affiliated Organisation.

We will also encourage participation on social media via the hashtag #AnnualMeetings.

We look forward to sharing this special moment with the ICOM community!
